Performs skilled professional work supervising a specialized group of support staff who check and monitor animals received at the Animal Services Shelter.  This is responsible veterinary medical work performing veterinarian services for the Shelter and in the field as necessary.  Work involves a broad variety of clinical and laboratory activities, including surgery and public vaccine clinics.  The employee in this class exercise medical judgement and skill in the independent performance of their duties for the care and treatment of animals within the shelter or during emergencies.
