This position serves as a Veterinary Medical Officer (Clinical Veterinarian) located in the Agricultural Research Service, Northeast Area, Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC), Beltsville, Maryland and in close proximity to Washington, DC and Baltimore. The center conducts multi-disciplinary and comprehensive research involving dairy cattle, swine, sheep, poultry and various species of laboratory animals.
The purpose of this position is to provide direct oversight and management to the BARC vivarium (laboratory animal facilities), expertise for oversight of biosafety in animal research, and service and support to BARC scientists using animals in their research programs, Research Animal Services personnel to provide medical, surgical and obstetrical care, and work in concert with the BARC Attending Veterinarian to provide animal welfare and administrative expertise to the Animal Care Compliance Office.
