We are seeking an innovative, commercially oriented Director, Talent Acquisition for our expanding Petco Veterinary Hospital Business. This newly created, highly visible leadership position will own developing and delivering best-in-class, scalable veterinary talent recruiting strategies, practices and tools that will catalyze our ability to hire and retain top tier veterinary talent, in alignment with our aggressive multi-year hospital growth plans.

Our ideal candidate has in-depth talent acquisition leadership experience in the Veterinary or other high touch medical professional industries. In partnership with Petco’s medical directors, hospital & operations managers, plus a dedicated veterinary recruitment team, you will lead the charge in cultivating Petco’s unique and compelling veterinary talent employment value proposition.
Essential Job Duties:
Design and execute an end-to-end veterinary & college recruiting strategy to build a strong pipeline of bright, skilled candidates.
Develop and manage the veterinary recruitment operations, inclusive of candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing and assessment, reference checking and negotiating offer packages.
Implement creative sourcing strategies and tools to connect with new candidate pools.
Build strong relationships and work collaboratively with Vet Operations Leadership, HR colleagues and company leaders to design and execute cohesive workforce planning strategies.
Manage vet recruiting team and provide ongoing development, performance, mentoring and learning experiences. Ensure the team has world-class skills, tools and processes required to build candidate pipelines, and deliver excellent service to hospital field leaders & managers.
Work with program and vendor management team to develop and execute strategies around recruitment advertising, job boards, research firms, technology solutions and compliance initiatives in a timely and efficient way.
Develop and implement quantitative and qualitative measures to communicate staffing effectiveness based on quality, cost, efficiency and customer feedback.
Ensure the organization complies with laws and regulations as it relates to sourcing, staffing and hiring.
Must have a minimum 5 years of professional veterinary staffing and or medical staffing experience, 8 years of total staffing/recruiting experience and preferably at least 2 years’ experience leading a team.
An advanced degree in Veterinary medicine
Track record of successfully developing and delivering on a strategic roadmap for the talent function – including setting and achieving goals, building/leading a team, driving process improvement, and increasing customer satisfaction in a high-volume division.
Experience utilizing recruiting analytics and implementing measurable talent acquisition “scorecards” to update the business & measure results
Demonstrated leadership experience, and ability to motivate a team towards desired results.
Ability to influence and partner with cross functional colleagues.
Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; tenacious and adept at managing senior level communications and relationships.
