The Veterinary Operations Manager oversees the overall daily management and direction of Hospital and Resort activities related to inpatient (Anesthesia, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Wards, Animal Care staff) and guest services. The individual provides leadership, planning, staff management, patient management, and operational oversight so that the practice can achieve its goal of providing superior customer service to our clients and excellent medical care to our patients. The individual will work to improve continuously the patient/guest care and client experience. In addition, the individual will work collaboratively with the Practice Manager, Management Team, Doctors, Human Resources and Staff to ensure effective operations of both hospitals. The individual will be responsible for implementing policies and guidelines in accordance with compliance regulations and will have primary responsibility for patient and client care issues.
The Veterinary Operations Manager works closely with her direct reports to ensure there is open communication and accountability. The individual, with her direct reports, will manage performance of staff. The individual will be involved in staffing decisions of each section, cross-training, scheduling and review and resolution of personnel scheduling issues when they occur.

Some of the key things you will be doing and responsible for:
Participate in creating and managing the operational organizational structure, and in anticipation of projected growth; establish and direct short and long-term clinical staffing plans, maintaining primary responsibility for candidate assessment, scheduling work trial evaluations, then forwarding employment documentation to Practice Manager for hiring and salary negotiation or communicating with applicants that are not viable candidates.
Collaborate with members of your team, including the Practice Manager, members of the doctors, partners and staff to support each other to enhance patient care, client satisfaction, safety, training, implementing best practices, increasing growth, and reducing costs
Work as a member of the management team to help guide the preparation of short and long-range budgets based on strategic objectives; manage the budgets of the various departments within your facility, and work with staff to achieve expected results
Develop strategies and tactics to achieve client satisfaction targets, including investigating service issues and coordinating efforts for improvement; monitors client surveys for trends, proactively contacting clients, targeting responses to those clients
Ensure the hospitals maintains an effective stock of medicine, supplies, and materials to achieve appropriate inventory levels and obsolescence targets; ensure all services, medicine, supplies and materials are invoiced appropriately
Maintain the facilities at a high degree of cleanliness
7–10 years of related experience in a veterinary practice, with 3+ years in a practice setting with managerial experience. Familiarity with CornerStone, Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word; demonstrated knowledge of veterinary patient care systems. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. with or without accommodation. Must be able to amicably but effectively communicate with clients and staff; understand the difference with being friendly with staff and being friends.
Demonstrated leadership experience; excellent computer skills; outstanding organizational, interpersonal, communications and time-management skills; ability to exercise discretion and interact effectively with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds; maintain professional positive outlook, handle multiple projects simultaneously; ability to work with frequent interruptions and to multi-task; exceptional attention to detail.
