Mount Vernon Veterinary Hospital is seeking a FT equine veterinarian to join our team of 4 veterinarians. The applicant must be interested in providing state of the art care to our patients and exceptional customer service to their owners. Established in 1983 in the heart of the Skagit Valley in Northwest Washington our hospital has established a reputation for providing a high level care to our clients’ horses as well as those who come to us through referrals. Our clientele include sport horses, western performance, breeding farms, recreational use, miniatures, and back yard pets. In 2002 MVVH built a 9600 square foot equine hospital located on 20 acres in order to better serve the area. The hospital has 8 stalls including a double foaling stall with video monitoring, outside pens and lungeing area, surgery suite, large treatment area and is equipped with both portable and fixed digital radiography, endoscopes, 3 meter gastroscope, digital ultrasound, powered dental equipment, Abaxis lab equipment, and StableLab for serum amyloid A testing. We have recently added Prostride to our list of services.
The position comes with a fully stocked ambulatory truck with shared veterinary assistants to assist as needed in the field and in the hospital. Benefits include paid vacation, medical/dental/vision insurance, paid holidays, shared on call duty with the other doctors, continuing education stipend, license, professional dues, and AVMA professional liability. Base salary is commensurate with experience with a ProSal type of bonus compensation. Emergency fees are retained by doctor on call.
The Pacific Northwest is home to many and varied recreational activities from kayaking to skiing to hiking, and only an hour away from Seattle’s cultural activities.
Applicants should have strong medical and communication skills, a background in equestrian activities, and an enthusiastic and positive attitude. We encourage outreach with the horse community and participation in events including saddle club presentations, client education seminars, vaccine/coggins clinics, etc. A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in equine veterinary medicine is preferred.
